AUPE Student Council
Student council is an elected organization comprising students who represent their peers and act as a bridge between the student body and school administration. Joining student council provides an incredible opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, foster teamwork, and make a positive impact on their school community. By being part of the student council, students can actively participate in decision-making processes, organize events, and contribute to the improvement of school policies and initiatives.
Model UN
AUPE's Model UN Team competes against high schools throughout Tri-State to advance understanding ofcontemporary global issues through quality educational programs that emphasize collaboration and cooperative conflict resolution and prepare participants for active global citizenship. We envision a world comprised of civically engaged people who strive for peaceful, multilateral conflict resolution and equitable, sustainable human development.
National Honor Society
Unveiled over a century ago, the National Honor Society enshrines four pillars at its heart: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. More than mere badges of honor for NHS members, these principles are transformative keys that unlock potential, enhancing every student’s educational journey, and ultimately empowering them to make profound, enduring contributions to our world.
Art Therapy
The Art Therapy Club at AUPE is a welcoming and inclusive space where students can come together to explore the healing power of art. Through various artistic activities and guided sessions, students can express themselves, manage stress, and enhance their overall well-being. Joining the Art Therapy Club provides students with an opportunity to connect with like-minded peers, develop creative skills, and cultivate self-awareness and emotional resilience, making it a valuable addition to their personal growth journey.
Meditation Club
The Meditation Club at AUPE offers students a peaceful and supportive environment to practice mindfulness and explore the benefits of meditation. By joining the Meditation Club, students can learn techniques to reduce stress, improve focus, and promote mental and emotional well-being. Engaging in regular meditation sessions can help students develop inner calm, enhance self-awareness, and cultivate a sense of balance and tranquility amidst the challenges of academic life.
AM Weightlifting
AM Weightlifting at AUPE is a strength and conditioning club that provides students with the opportunity to improve their physical fitness through weightlifting exercises. Students come to school at 7am to build muscular strength, increase endurance, and enhance overall athletic performance. Engaging in weightlifting not only promotes physical health but also boosts confidence, discipline, and determination, making it an ideal choice for students looking to challenge themselves and achieve their fitness goals.
My Brother’s Keeper
In 2014, former President Barack Obama established the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Task Force at the federal level. The Task Force was an interagency effort focused on closing and eliminating the opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color so that all young people have the chance to reach their full potential. At AUPE we keep that dream alive by helping mold our young men to become leaders in their community.
My Sister’s Keeper
My Sister’s Keeper (MSK) is a New York City Department of Education Initiative to promote gender equity, empower and engage girls and young women in grades 4-12, including cisgender, transgender, gender expansive, and any other students who identify with the terms “girl“ or “women.” At AUPE, our young women are taught the skills needed to become leaders through fundraising, activism, and community.
Robotics Team
The Robotics Team at AUPE is an exciting and dynamic club that allows students to gain hands-on experience in designing, building, and programming robots for various competitions and challenges. Being part of the team provides students with opportunities to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, as well as fostering a passion for STEM fields and opening doors to future career opportunities in robotics and engineering. Our members compete in the NYCFirst Robotics competition.
Gaming Club
The Gaming Club at AUPE is a vibrant gathering that takes place every Friday after 8th period, offering a space for students with a passion for gaming to connect, unwind, and forge friendships based on their shared love for this hobby. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced gamer, all skill levels are welcome. By joining the Gaming Club, students can not only indulge in their favorite games but also foster teamwork, enhance strategic thinking, and develop lasting relationships with fellow gamers.
CUFFH Youth
Students that join the CUFFH Youth club at AUPE gain responsibility through ownership and willingness. The club empowers youth to tackle the community issues that impact their lives by exposing them to organizing and leadership development skills in a fun, recreational setting.
Stoked Mentoring
STOKED creates a community of fearless leaders through mentoring, opportunity, and action. Through mentorship and action sports culture, STOKED empowers underserved youth to reach their fullest potential, instilling passion, resilience and determination.
Center for Urban Pedagogy Partnership
The Center for Urban Pedagogy Partnership at AUPE offers students an opportunity to delve into urban issues and develop innovative solutions. Students can explore topics such as mass transit issues and renewable energy, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by urban communities. Student members engage in meaningful research, critical thinking, and collaboration, empowering them to make a positive impact on their local communities.
Theater Club
The Theater Club at AUPE is an exciting platform for students to explore their passion for performing arts and develop their theatrical skills. By joining the Theater Club, students can participate in various productions, including plays, musicals, and improvisation exercises, allowing them to showcase their talent and creativity.
