At the Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering (AUPE), grades are essential for providing students and parents valuable insights into academic progress. Grades indicate a student’s knowledge and abilities on a specific educational journey. Learning is a dynamic process, and proficiency may require multiple attempts. To support this, AUPE ensures students can demonstrate their understanding through multiple assignments and assessments in three core grading areas: Content, Skill, and Effort. Parents and students need to clearly understand the learning goals for each subject, as grades reflect students’ comprehension of subject matter, concepts, content, and skills. While other factors such as effort, behavior, preparedness, and participation are integral to a student’s learning experience, they are not heavily weighted in determining grades. Our grading system at AUPE utilizes a 100-point scale to assess students’ proficiency in reaching learning standards for each marking period and semester, with three marking periods in both the fall and spring semesters.
At AUPE, we are committed to providing a fair and transparent grading policy that accurately represents students’ academic achievements and progress. We can support students’ educational pursuits by emphasizing the core grading areas and maintaining clear learning goals while ensuring that grades reflect their proper understanding and abilities. Our grading system encourages students to continuously learn, celebrate their successes, and learn from challenges, ultimately preparing them for future academic and professional endeavors.
