New Visions
At AUPE, the Science curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity and critical thinking in students. Our Biology and Earth Science courses are developed using the New Visions Science Curriculum, aligning with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS). Emphasizing inquiry, problem-solving, research, collaboration, and presentations, our curriculum encourages students to engage with the world around them actively, ensuring a dynamic and comprehensive learning experience for our students.
MATH CURRICULUM
Illustrative Math
At the Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering, our Math curriculum is powered by the Illustrative Math program, designed to invigorate math classrooms and empower students with essential skills, understandings, and practices. Local Curriculum
The Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering offers a rigorous ELA curriculum developed by top instructors collaborating with local literacy professional organizations, aligning with the Next Generation English Language Arts (ELA) Learning Standards. Our curriculum emphasizes literary analysis and professional writing skills, guiding students to reflect on life’s more profound questions.
SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM
New Visions & Passport
At the Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering, our Social Studies curriculum is based on the New Visions Social Studies Curriculum for Global History and Geography I and II courses and the U.S. History course. Aligned with the New York State K-12 Social Studies Framework’s objectives, our curriculum offers students the opportunity to enhance their literacy skills by fostering critical thinking in reading, writing, and speaking like historians. Additionally, seniors enrolled in the Participation in Government and Economics courses follow the We Teach NY Passport to Social Studies, preparing them for informed citizenship and economic understanding.
