The Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering (AUPE) continues to prove why it’s one of Brooklyn’s top high schools! This past weekend, 11 of Brooklyn’s finest young diplomats represented AUPE at the prestigious Columbia Educational Simulations (CESIMS) Model UN event.
Our students engaged in intense debates and negotiations across various committees:
- United Nations Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC)
- Korea 1981 Crisis Committee
- Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC)
- 2001: A Space Odyssey (Crisis Committee)
- The Mythical War: The Ancient Battle Continues (Joint Crisis Committee)
- Barbary Pirates Committee
🏆 Two AUPE stars brought home awards:
-
Marcus Jackson – Outstanding Delegate
Role: Yoo Tae-heung in the Korea 1981 Crisis Committee -
Vincent Slaughter – Most Improved Delegate
Role: Kur Yusuf Ziyaliddin Pasha in the Barbary Pirates Committee
(Vincent’s second award in consecutive Model UN events!)
Both winners demonstrated exceptional skills in collaboration, public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking. All AUPE participants earned high scores, showcasing their diplomatic prowess throughout the full-day event at Columbia University.
The Model UN team exemplifies AUPE’s commitment to academic excellence and global awareness. As one of our top academic clubs, it provides unparalleled opportunities for students to develop crucial skills in research, debate, and international relations.
At AUPE, we’re not just another Brooklyn high school – we’re cultivating the leaders of tomorrow, one conference at a time!
