The Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering (AUPE) continues to set itself apart from other Brooklyn High Schools with its outstanding Brooklyn Model United Nations team! Recently, 10 of Brooklyn’s finest young diplomats traveled to the University of Connecticut’s 26th Annual Model United Nations conference (UCONNMUN) on the UConn Storrs campus.
Our students engaged in high-level discussions on pressing global issues, including:
- Prevention of Escalating Disputes in the Korean Peninsula
- India/Pakistan Border Disputes
- Virus Protection in Developing Countries
- Protecting Children in Conflict Zones
- Women’s Health and Autonomy
- The Iranian Hostage Crisis
- And more!
Special congratulations to AUPE Senior Vincent Slaughter, who won the Most Outstanding Delegate award in the Cabinet Crisis Committee! Vincent showcased exceptional skills in Collaboration, Public Speaking, Negotiation, and Critical Thinking. In his role as Cecil Parkinson, Chairman of the Conservative Party (War Cabinet), Vincent expertly navigated a complex scenario set in 1982 London during the Falklands War.
All AUPE students earned high scores for their participation in this intense 3-day event, demonstrating their diplomatic prowess and global awareness.
Led by staff advisor Ms. Pardo and Mr. Clark, the Model UN team exemplifies AUPE’s commitment to academic excellence and preparing students for global citizenship. As one of our top academic clubs, it provides unparalleled opportunities for students to develop crucial skills in research, public speaking, and international relations.
At AUPE, we’re not just another Brooklyn High School – we’re cultivating the leaders of tomorrow, one conference at a time! Stay up to date with AUPE’s Model UN Team on Instagram at www.instagram.com/highrising.mun/
